so it continues

Coca-Cola - Press Center - Press Release

Coca-Cola C2, with half the carbohydrates, calories and sugar of regular cola, and "all the great taste" of Coca-Cola, today was introduced to the United States at festivities in Los Angeles...

and another thing

I want to have my own radio show. A computer help show a la Call for Help (RIP), The Screen Savers or Kim Komando. People can call in and ask me questions and I would be really rude to them and call them names. Sounds great. I just need good intro music and cool sound effects and I'll be a superstar. Which radio station wants me most?

business idea

I like martial arts movies. I'd love to watch more but I don't want to have to buy them just to watch them. You can't rent them anywhere because they just don't have any anywhere. Netflix doesn't really have it either. So what if I start something like netflix only with just martial arts movies. Surely there's a market out there with people like me who like this stuff. It won't make billions, but it could be a nice little at home business to supplement my other income. Anyone want to give me some capital?

Mr. Walking Man

Excuse me Mr. Walking Man.
How are you doing today.
Oh, sorry. Didn't see you were talking on your phone.
Hello Mr. Business Man.
You look like you're in a hurry.
You don't even look at me.
Nevermind.
Hey Mr. Black Man.
I feel really uncomfortable.
Do you hate me because I'm white?
I don't know where to put my hands.
Hello Miss walking girl.
No I'm not looking at your butt.
I know I'm walking pretty fast behind you
but I'm out exercising, not attacking.
Hey friendly person.
A Smile and a nod and a how ya doing as we pass.
Hot enough for ya?

ipod mini

well amazon dropped the price of the ipod mini to $236 with free shipping. So since I have a birthday coming up....you can all pitch in and make me happy.

perfecto

Randy Johnson threw a perfect game last night. Wow. Pacers advanced in the playoffs because the Heat did not have Dwyane Wade in the game at the end. How in the world do you have him on the bench for the final few seconds? Down by three. He was on fire. Fire!

strongholds

Talked with Shawn the other day about food. Since he doesn't blog anymore, I feel free to share the gist of the conversation. Shawn said he had been thinking about how food can be a stronghold in your life. I had never really considered that a stronghold but as he explained it can really keep you from doing a lot of things. If you aren't eating the right foods then you can be tired or sick or dependent. If you are real sluggish in the mornings, then you aren't going to get a lot out of your quiet times, or even skip it altogether. If you are sick or don't have energy you are less likely to be out fighting the battle. It makes sense. Now with this new "diet" that I'm on I have so much more energy and I feel smarter. In the mornings I can actually string together a few sentences. I have a lot more energy during the day and I actually don't struggle thru running. Can they be related? In my life, when I've been the closest to God I have also been in the best shape. There has to be a correlation. Now the question is, after this little contest do I go back to eating how I used to eat? How come I feel like I can't live unless I can drink a Mt. Dew? That is a stronghold ladies and gentlemen. Maybe I need to take Breaking Free again. Thanks Shawn for bringing my attention to that. Now go eat a cookie or something.

He's back, baby!

ESPN.com: Page 2 - I'm back

"Q: I don't live in a cave or anything, but I noticed that Page 2 no longer shows you as a writer for "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in the little sentence at the end of each column. I've heard nothing about the show going away, but nothing about you leaving, either. What's going on?
--Matt Karpowitz, Olathe, Kansas

SG: Remember when MJ came back to the Bulls in '95 and put out that two-word press release? Well ...

I'm not MJ. So I can't do that.

But yes, something is going on. Two weeks ago, I left Jimmy's show, and I'm signing a new contract with ESPN. When it came right down to it, I missed writing my column and wanted the chance to pursue some additional opportunities with ESPN (none of which I'm allowed to mention yet -- although sadly, the launching of ESPN6 isn't one of them). Between working 60 hours a week for a TV show and trying to keep my column alive, there just wasn't enough time in the week. And I felt like my writing was starting to slip -- I just didn't have enough time to work on columns or even think about them (which is three-fourths of the writing process). So something had to give.

On a sad note, I'm leaving behind one of the best experiences of my life. I can't possibly explain what it feels like to help launch such a massive enterprise from scratch. People come, people go, people panic, people flip out, people screw up, people screw up some more ... somehow the show keeps moving along. It's a little like building a house. Things eventually take shape, and somewhere along the line you think to yourself, "Wow, this is starting to look like a house." If you have a creative bone in your body, it's one of the most satisfying feelings you can have. I was lucky.

I would tell you more, but devoting anything less than 100,000 words to everything I loved about working for this show would belittle the impact that everyone had on me. You'll have to wait for the book. Sure, I'll never write it, but you'll have to wait.

Anyway ...

I'm back.

(Now I wish I had gone with the two-word press release.) "

Get chipped, then charge without plastic -- you are the card
Once implanted, you become your own credit card. Need to pay for a drink? Wave your implant near a reader, and you're done. VeriChip has dreams of going global with its ''human implantable ID technology'' -- once implanted, you could wave a body part to pay for a burger at Wendy's, a beer at a baseball game, or whatever.

So no more Golden Corral. It's a nice concept, but it didn't have much for us on the atkins plan. The salad was good. No dressing, but that was ok, I loaded up on toppings of cheese, pepperoni, and real bacon bits. Pretty tasty. The chicken and what I'm guessing was minute steak wasn't too good. The sausage was good, however. Ah well, live and learn. As of Wednesday I had lost 7 lbs in 4 1/2 days. Not sure if that's healthy or what I weigh today, but I was pretty surprised and happy by it. I still need to run tonight with Laura. I hate running but it is the most affective tool I have for weight loss (other than eating fat). Go Dr. Atkins, too bad you're dead.

breakfast of champions

So I'm eating bacon and eggs and water this morning. Funny how according to Atkins, Milk was the deadly killer of the three. At least for induction it is.

Atkins update

Feeling much better. I seem to be getting more energy today. I'm a little more irritable too. Yeah. Can you feel tired and energetic at the same time? Atkins shakes are pretty tasty. The bars have been hit and miss. Grilled salmon and mystery veggie tonight. I miss pizza.

Tyson the skateboarding dog

kicked my butt

Started the Atkins diet this weekend. The first two days are supposed to be the toughest as your body goes into a sort of detox mode. We began the diet on Saturday, so no ill affects then. Sunday we woke up and Laura was experiencing flu like symptoms. I was very tired and had a headache. So we didn't do a whole lot during the day. Laura got better throughout the day. Around 8 I started feeling a little sickly. Then I really started feeling bad about a 1/2 hour later. I went to bed at 9pm and slept until 7:30. I feel better today but still a little tired and a slight headache. After 3 days we are supposed to feel much better and some people even feel a euphoric high. That would be cool. The eating is a little harder just because things aren't as convenient. I haven't really craved anything yet, but now that I'm back at work I wish I could drink a dew or something. I packed a lot of stuff for eating today. It's nice that we can eat as much meat as we want, but that stuff is harder to prepare. Plus no bread makes it hard to eat a sandwich. Oh well. Just two more weeks of the first phase and then we can eat nuts or something.
