Easter Eggs?

Howstuffworks "How Easter Works":
"Easter Eggs

According to the book Festivals and Celebrations, eggs were dyed in ancient times by the Egyptians and Persians, who then exchanged them with friends. 'It was in Mesopotamia that Christians first gave eggs to their friends at Easter to remind them of the resurrection of Jesus,' author Rowland Purton writes.
If Lent is observed as it was intended to be, eggs are a forbidden food (this is why eggs were used on Shrove Tuesday). Centuries ago, when Lent ended on Easter Sunday, it became tradition for people to give decorated eggs as presents to their friends and servants. Over time, the tradition of painting or decorating eggs has continued, particularly with the Ukrainians and other eastern Europeans known for their beautiful and intricate designs. "

Clouds could've been ugly.

Clouds aren't ugly. I'm trying to notice the sky more. I'm not really sure why. I want to appreciate God more I think, and the sky is something that I can see His design in I guess. I know there's a scientific reason behind why clouds look like they do. I understand that. But the fact that they still look cool amazes me. How much man made stuff looks horrible even though it works properly. I mean which would you rather paint a picture of, a cloud filled sky or a refrigerator? My point is, God didn't have to make functional things beautiful, but He did.

Mr. Cuban may I introduce you to QHA.

Blog Maverick - The Mark Cuban Weblog - www.blogmaverick.com: "I invested in mamma.com for the same reason I invested in Netidentity.com back when it was known as mailbank.com. I love businesses with low overhead, that don't need to be technology leaders to succeed, that generate cash that they can put in the bank, and at some point, hopefully payout to shareholders. I think mamma.com has that potential."

and another thing

Rick Warren says that our time here on earth is for character building and our relationship with God here will affect our relationship in heaven. I'm not sure what to think about that.

I know one thing, I used to think I knew things about christianity. Actually, I thought I was pretty smart. I thought I new the bible pretty well, I was pretty good at bible trivia, knew all the right answers in sunday school. I can talk the talk (posing I believe it's called) but I don't know a thing right now. I also know I can't make a linear thought in these blogs. I jump around. (Jump around)

So therefore, notwithstanding, heretofore, I don't know what I'm trying to say. I need to get involved with something. Volunteering. Get involved with my community. Do something for "the least of these", if you will. But what? Volunteer at the Christian Life Center? Impact ministries? Walk my neighbors dog? Do something at church? I feel like I want to do something outside of church (along with church) to reach some people that I wouldn't. It's easy just to give money, and that's important, but I need to do something. I feel shallow. Blah. Restless. Burned out. Maybe I should go on a missions trip. That almost seems to convenient though. What can I do in my own backyard? I need to do something that will affect my world I live in. Teach computers to the homeless or something. And what about the children? Is it irresponsible of me to do something with other kids that takes me away from my own? Big Brothers sounds cool, but I only have so much time in the day for my kids let alone someone elses. I used to like other people's kids until I had my own. What to do?

Why?

The question is why did Jesus have to die? I'm not looking for the normal "To save us." Answer. Why was his dying necessary for us to get to heaven? Why is it that "The wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23)? Why is the punishment of Adam and Eve eating of the fruit from "the tree of the knowledge of good and evil." (Gen 2:17) Doesn't that imply that God made it so that Jesus would have to die to save us. Why would he do that? Why set up that kind of pain? To show us how bad sin is? Just by disobeying God, Adam caused Jesus to have to die. But then, God set it up that way. I just wonder why. Sin separates us from God. There has to be a way to get back to Him. We can't work it off, because there will always be sin. Why did God have the tree there? Why did Adam let Eve eat the fruit? As I just learned by reading the Wild at Heart book, Adam was right there. The serpent was talking to Eve but Adam could've stepped in and stopped it. I'm not making a coherent point, I know. I'm kind of throwing all this out there. "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." (Gen 3:21) Also, why is that tree there? Where are these trees today? Why didn't God want us to live forever? Don't we live forever in heaven anyway (once we are saved that is)?

After 'Passion,' No Need for Gibson to Work Again

Yahoo! News: "Needless to say, that's just the tip of the iceberg. If a film grosses $400 million domestically, it could easily do twice that internationally. It could, of course, even do more. 'Titanic,' for instance, did about $1 billion abroad compared to about $600 million in the U.S. and Canada. 'Passion' is likely to do extremely well in parts of the world like Latin America and South America where it will benefit from having a very large core audience of Christians. It could wind up in those territories as the biggest blockbuster of all time. "

Godzilla taking a break -- for now

I have a God Hunt Sighting

Went to my grandma's last night to fix her computer. While we were there I started talking to her husband, Dick, about transferring old home movies to dvd. He said he was trying to move old 8mm to video. Well, so am I. He had some equipment too so he let me borrow it. The "coincidence" is pretty cool.

Kutless

But what about the ugly baby?

Tyrone emailed me that question about the passion. I also spoke with Shawn on what he thought. Their thoughts are here (with their permission):
Tyrone: when you saw the movie "The Passion", what did you think about the part when Satan was holding a baby that looked like he was about 40?

Me: That really confused me. I assume Gibson was trying to be artsy on that part. I think he was going for a creepy vibe and I think he got it. That part and the children chasing Judas. Nothing scarier than children out of place.

Tyrone: But what about the ugly baby? "it's evil distorting what's good. What is more tender and beautiful than a mother and a child? So the Devil takes that and distorts it just a little bit. Instead of a normal mother and child you have an androgynous figure holding a 40-year-old 'baby' with hair on his back. It is weird, it is shocking, it's almost too much-just like turning Jesus over to continue scourging him on his chest is shocking and almost too much, which is the exact moment when this appearance of the Devil and the baby takes place."

Did you realize that Satan was a female who had her eyebrows shaved?

Shawn: I have also thought about that scene in the movie and here was the best I could come up with.

Remember in the beginning of the movie when Jesus is confronted by Satan and Satan tries to convince Jesus that the sacrifice is too great and that people are not worth it? I had thought that may have someone to do with the baby scene. I thought it was maybe trying to give Jesus a visual of what state humans were in. Though they were not created to look like that as children, they had become corrupt. They were now distorted children of Satan rather than beautiful creation of God. Maybe he was once again saying, "they are not worth it." "Look at them." This was possibly a temptation to make Jesus give up and put an end to it all.

Me: Uh...
So what do you think about the ugly baby?

love song

Love Song
Lyrics & Music by Mac Powell

I've heard it said that a man would climb a mountain
Just to be with the one he loves
How many times has he broken that promise
It has never been done.
I've never climbed the highest mountain
But I walked the hill of calvary

Chorus:
Just to be with you, I'd do anything
There's no price I would not pay
Just to be with you, I'd give anything
I would give my life away.

I've heard it said that a man would swim the ocean
Just to be with the one he loves
How may times has he broken that promise
It can never be done
I've never swam the deepest ocean
But I walked upon the raging sea

Repeat chorus

(Bridge) I know that you don't understand
the fullness of My love
How I died upon the cross for your sins
And I know that you don't realize
how much that I gave you
But I promise, I would do it all again.

Just to be with you, I've done everything
There's no price I did not pay
Just to be with you, I gave everything
Yes, I have my life away.

FOXNews.com - Foxlife - Mel Gibson's 'Passion' Pays Off at Box Office

FOXNews.com: "'The Passion' put up the second-best five-day figures for a movie opening on Wednesday, behind last year's 'The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King' at $124.1 million and ahead of 'Star Wars: Episode I ? The Phantom Menace' at $105.6 million.
The first movie released in 2004 to cross the $100 million mark, 'The Passion' easily passed the weekend's No. 2 flick, '50 First Dates' at $88.7 million, as the year's top-grossing film. "
