HONG KONG - Action star Jet Li injured his foot as he protected his daughter from tsunami waves that flooded his hotel in the Maldives, Hong Kong newspapers reported Tuesday.

Li, who played the villain in 1998’s “Lethal Weapon 4,” was with his daughter in the hotel’s lobby Sunday when huge waves gushed into the hotel, the Apple Daily newspaper reported, quoting a friend vacationing with Li.

He slightly injured his foot while picking up his daughter, the report said. Ming Pao Daily News reported Li struck his foot against a floating piece of furniture.

Li made his name in Hong Kong as a martial arts film star before moving on to Hollywood. His screen credits include “Romeo Must Die” and “Hero.”

more on the Tsunami

please not chicago

Yahoo! Sports: "Warner said he hasn't concentrated on which teams need a starting quarterback next season, but he mentioned Dallas, Chicago and Miami as possibilities."

I think he'd be good in Miami. They have 3 quality WRs (if they'll all be healthy and back) and a solid TE. Just need a RB who can catch the ball. Their defense is very good, too. Miami could turn around in a hurry.

Maybe he's just really bored.

Yahoo! Sports: "DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- Duke forward Shavlik Randolph will be out indefinitely after being diagnosed with mononucleosis, the school announced Wednesday.
The ailment means Randolph, who is among the team's leaders in blocked shots, steals and assists, will have to sit on the sidelines for the first few weeks of the sixth-ranked Blue Devils' Atlantic Coast Conference schedule.
Patients often are urged to refrain from physical activities for three or four weeks.
The junior is averaging 6.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
The Blue Devils don't play again until Jan. 2, when they open conference play against Clemson."

snow job

I have a window at work now. It doesn't have much of a view, but still, it's nice to have a window. Today all I can see out of it is snow. A lot of snow. And a scaffold. It looks cold and we are supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow today. Me thinks I won't be working until 5pm.

this bites

Top News Article | Reuters.com: "LOS ANGELES, Dec 13 (Reuters) - Video game publisher Electronic Arts Inc. (ERTS.O: Quote, Profile, Research) on Monday said it has signed an exclusive deal with the National Football League and the league's players, giving EA sole rights to put NFL players, stadiums and teams in its games.

Terms of the five-year deal were not disclosed.

The deal strikes a blow for EA in its ongoing sports battle with Sega Sammy Holdings (6460.T: Quote, Profile, Research) and Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. (TTWO.O: Quote, Profile, Research)

Sega and Take-Two's 'ESPN' line of sports video games, with their strong reviews and discount $20 pricing, ate into EA's market share this year, forcing EA to cut prices on its sports games.

EA's 'Madden NFL' football games is one of the company's cornerstones, with more than 42 million copies sold over the last 15 years. "

So this is what Curt has been up to

Semi-retired Navy SEAL, Curt Powers, was happily minding his own business when fate steps in to foul things up. After surviving a dangerous mission that has left him physically and emotionally aching, he discovers that his father has recently passed away. This is big news to him, since his mother told him years ago that his father was already dead. Dear old dad left him a cabin by the ocean, Power’s Point, along with six boxes of old family papers. A rolling stone for most of his life, he had finally decided to take a look through the old boxes, when a gray-eyed vixen steals them right out from under him!

Romantic suspense writer, Lily O’Malley, was on her way to drop off some of her books in a storage unit when she happened on an auction. On the block were six sealed boxes, and her curiosity getting the better of her, she puts in the highest bid. What she discovers turns out to be a gold mine of inspiration - so, when Curt shows up at one of her book signings demanding his property back, she’s hesitant to relinquish it. After all, she’s the one who bought the boxes all nice and legal after he missed three payments on the storage unit.

Since Lily is unwilling to back down, Curt offers a compromise - why not return to Power’s Point with him where they can sort through the boxes together? While Lily is a little hesitant to run off with a strange man, she’s not all that anxious to stay in town. Lily’s success as a writer has come with her own stalker. Not only has this man left dirty messages on her machine, but he’s also broken into her house to leave her “gifts.” While going away with Curt isn’t exactly appealing, the idea of getting out of town is.

After groaning upon seeing the title (why do categories always have the dopiest titles?), I found myself pleasantly surprised after the first few chapters. For one thing, Curt and Lily have oodles of sexual chemistry, and the tension is thick right from the very start. Browning has crafted two fine characters that play very well off each other. Curt is an alpha hero with a wounded past, and sexy as hell. The author had me scrapping my chin off the floor by the close of the first chapter, and completely envious of the heroine by the time they are sharing living space. "

Jason Burton 6'2" Forward/Guard

Health will be the key for Jason this season. Jason played in only 17 games last season and will look to build on that with a full season of play. An aggressive/explosive player Jason adds a dimension of toughness to the Kangaroo’s. As the season wore on last year Jason became a consistent perimeter shooter as well as showing the ability to score at the rim and from the mid-range. Jason adds depth with his ability to play multiple positions.

a thought on emmitt vs barry from the sports guy

ESPN.com: Page 2 - The house doesn't always win: "To me, the best example of this argument was always 'Emmitt vs. Barry.' Whenever people argued that Barry Sanders was better than Emmitt Smith, my head would practically explode. So you'd rather have the guy who gets tackled behind the line of scrimmage eight out of 10 times, then breaks off a 40-yard run, over the guy who rushes for five yards a pop, keeps moving those chains and gets stronger as the game goes along? You really think the Cowboys were winning those Super Bowls because of Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin? Emmitt was the heart and soul of those teams. I loved watching Barry Sanders, and he's in the Pantheon for 'Guys You Should Never Bet Against,' but for one game with my life on the line ... sorry, I'm taking Emmitt. No contest."

UE ball player case goes to prosecutor

UE ball player case goes to prosecutor: "A new development in the case against three UE basketball players accused of burglarizing dorms on campus. Monday, Evansville Police turned the findings of their investigation over to the prosecutor's office. Dupree Fletcher, Marcus Butler, and Robert Nelson are accused of stealing more than 6-thousand dollars worth of electronics from Schroeder and Moore dorms on UE's campus over Thanksgiving weekend. The three men were subsequently kicked off of the basketball team. The file is now in Vanderburgh County Prosecutor Stan Levco's hands but no charges have been filed yet."

Frankenstein never scared me

We won our game last night by about 20ish. I even scored 3 points. Pretty excited about that. I started a jump workout this morning that Shawn gave me. It's supposed to increase my vertical. I feel like I'm going to throw up, so I must have done it right. Tonight I have my last movie to watch in my film class. Quite the interesting selection of movies lately. I wish the selection would've been better, but whatcha gonna do?

ESPN.com - Evansville dismisses 3 after on-campus incident

ESPN.com - NCB - Evansville dismisses 3 after on-campus incident: "Associated Press
EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- Freshmen guards Dupree Fletcher and Marcus Butler and sophomore guard Robert Nelson have been dismissed from the team for actions off the court, coach Steve Merfeld said Tuesday.
The sanctions apparently come as part of a police investigation into thefts near the university campus, the Evansville Courier & Press reported.
Merfeld said in a news release on the university's Web site that the dismissals are because of an on-campus incident last week that involved the personal property of others.
'Behavior such as this will not be tolerated,' he said. 'Our expectation is that everyone in the program represents the university in a positive light on campus and within the community.'
The 6-foot Fletcher, last year's high school player of the year in Wisconsin, was averaging 8.3 points, 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals in 14.3 minutes per game for the Purple Aces (2-1).
The 6-3 Butler was averaging 1.5 points in 3.5 minutes.
The 6-5 Nelson was averaging 4.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in 10.7 minutes. He appeared in 28 games, including six starts, as a freshman, when he averaged 3.0 points and 1.5 rebounds."
