The nail on the head

Grokster and the financial future of America - Blog Maverick - www.blogmaverick.com: This is a good summary of a very important technoligical case that the supreme court will be facing soon. Mark Cuban explains it nicely I think.

ANGER

Man I am really ticked off right now. Our DVR is broken. Meaning I can't access my episode of backatcha and I can't use it to record Saturday's episode. If it weren't for backatcha I'd be midly upset. Angry at their ineptness but I could deal with it until a service call could be put in. This just makes me mad. Insight's service over the phone was no help. "This is a new one for me. The only thing I can tell you to do is unplug it for 10 seconds and then wait 15 minutes for it to come back. If that doesn't work, then someone will have to come out." I don't know what to do. How much is direct tv? I think I will say goodbye to insight.

dude, that's not right

Philadelphia Inquirer | 01/27/2005 | Eagles Notes | Simoneau's back; Birds have big decision: "Ike's pain. In that same issue, Eagles linebacker Ike Reese was one of several NFL players surveyed about what goes on at the bottom of a pile when players are fighting for a fumble.

His answer: 'When we played the Patriots last year, Brian Westbrook fumbled a punt and we were all down there scrambling for it. Mike Vrabel had my testicles in his hand, and he was squeezing them. Where the football ends up depends on who has the strongest will or strongest hands. Guys reach inside the face mask to gouge your eyes. But the biggest thing is the grabbing of the testicles. It is crazy.'

The Patriots, by the way, recovered that fumble."

This is....impressive

Picasa 2

Picasa 2 - It's a great product for digital photos. It sorts them, prints them, burns them, edits them. Good stuff. Highest recommendation for anyone using digital photos.

firefox

If you use firefox I suggest changing the following setting:

in the browser url window type about:config
look for browser.cache.check_doc_frequency
right click modify, change from 3 to 1.

This will automatically check the page for the newest content. For some reason browsers, IE and firefox, don't check that everytime you go to a page. I always change it in IE but just found out how to do it in Firefox. Now Firefox is even more betterer.

Apple - Mac mini

Apple - Mac mini I admit, I am intrigued.

sick

I was/am sick, whatever. I had a temp at most of 101.7 yesterday. Being sick stinks. I couldn't do anything. I had no energy. I made a huge mistake of playing basketball Monday night. I tried not to, but one of our guys fouled out and I had to play for about 9 minutes of the game. Probably not the wisest of moves. I even threw up after work on Monday. Right outside the building. Nice. I'm feeling better today. No fever, but I have no energy. I came back to work but it is very hard to concentrate. Where was I? Oh yeah. Work. Later.

Nate Robinson G, 5'9"- Washington Huskies

TheNewsTribune.com | Tacoma, WA | Sports “It was during gym class at McClure Middle School,” Robinson recently recalled from a courtside seat at Hec Edmundson Pavilion, flipping through the pages of a sports magazine while waiting for the Washington basketball team to conduct a midweek practice. “Some kids wondered if I could dunk a volleyball. So I jumped high as I could and slammed the ball down – and then I had to hang on the rim with one hand.”

He looked toward the hoop in front of him and his eyes came alive. After doing his best to feign interest in all the usual interview subjects – basketball, football, evidence of life beyond Montlake – here was a topic that finally engaged Seattle’s most telegenic smile since the young Ken Griffey Jr. was roaming center field in the Kingdome.

“When I was 11, I could reach the middle of the net,” said Robinson, whose vertical leap has been measured at 431/2 inches. (Translation: From a standing position, he can hop onto the top of an office desk).

“First time I touched a backboard, I was 12,” he went on. “I touched the rim when I was 13, and when I was 14, I finally could dunk.”

A couple of goals I forgot about, but had been kicking around have to do with performing. I was considering learning a couple of songs on the guitar and doing them at seekers. The other was doing an open mic night at the funny bone, just to say I did. Those make me nervous, though.

Goals 2.0.0.5

So last years goals went ok. I missed some and got some. This year I thought I would make some challenging goals. I haven't decided what they all would be, but I thought I would list some out and see what happens. The following are my 2005 goals:

  • Weigh, at most, 170 lbs on Dec 31st, 2005
  • Dunk a basketball on a 10 foot goal
  • Complete all 12 weeks of jump workout
  • Pay off Car
  • Pay Off Citibank
  • Get Microsoft certified - developer C#
  • Bench 250 lbs
  • Run a 5k - 24 minutes or under (*was 26 but the big game thinks I can do 8 minute miles*)
  • Run the Evansville 1/2 Marathon
  • Make a CD of original music (not necessarily all mine...)
  • Have a movie night with CFC High School
  • Learn to swim
  • 6 pack abs
  • Watch every DVD we own (non-children)
  • Read the entire bible
  • Under 10% body fat
  • Score 10 or more points in a basketball game in church league

That's all I have for now. I think I'm missing one or two, but I can't remember what.
