Ronnie Lott

AOL News - 49ers' Ronnie Lott: King of the Football Beasts: "Ironically, 1985, the year he was not honored was a year of nagging injuries, including one in which he suffered a mangled pinky finger on his left hand. Team doctors recommended surgery that would have sidelined him for the last part of the season.

Lott had another idea, one he had read about: Amputate the end of the finger. The healing process would be much faster ... and he could keep playing.

The doctors agreed, and Lott’s finger was amputated above the third knuckle. He didn’t miss a down."

Don't think I'd sacrifice a digit for QHA...
